The Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Legacy
The Blancpain Fifty Fathoms has a history that dates back to 1953 when it became the first "true diver’s watch". Designed with water resistance, a robust build, and exceptional legibility, it quickly set the standard for all future dive watches. Over the decades, the Fifty Fathoms has evolved, marking significant milestones in both diving and watchmaking.
The Collaboration | Blancpain x Swatch
Blancpain and Swatch may seem like an unlikely pair, but their collaboration is a brilliant synergy. Blancpain, known for its rich heritage and precision, joins forces with Swatch, famed for its innovative and playful approach. Together, they’ve created a collection that combines the best of both worlds. The Swatch Group owns both brands, following the success of the 2022 Omega x Swatch MoonSwatch collaboration the Blancpain x Swatch collection launched in August last year.
The New Look | Pacific Ocean Yellow Strap
Design Overview
The new Pacific Ocean Yellow Strap model looks really good. Its yellow Bioceramic case and crown, inscribed with "Swatch" on the side, are striking. The metal dial, with its gradient effect achieved through layers of colour, is both bold and sophisticated. The hour markers and hands, coated with Grade A Super-LumiNova, ensure visibility even in the darkest depths.
The one direction rotating bezel, made from the same yellow bioceramic material, and the anti-scratch coating on the biosourced glass, highlight the watch's durability. Inside the watch, Swatch's SISTEM51 mechanical movement, visible through the transparent sapphire glass back, features an illustration of the Pacific Ocean and the Chromodoris Kuiteri nudibranch;a sea slug native to the Pacific Ocean. The back of the watch also carries five inspirational inscriptions, adding a touch of personality to this already distinctive piece.
Dial Details
Within the Blancpain x Swatch range, there are two different dial types across six colourways, and this yellow model boasts the more striking of the two dials. It features a white and black dial with Arabic numerals at 12, 3, 6, and 9, providing a clear and classic look. The addition of a date window enhances its practicality, ensuring you can keep track of time and date seamlessly. This dial design not only improves legibility but also adds a touch of sophistication to the overall appearance.
Technical Specifications
The watch boasts a 42.3 mm yellow bioceramic case, 14.4 mm in thickness, with a lug-to-lug distance of 48.0 mm. It’s water-resistant up to 50 fathoms (91 meters), and the Grade A Super LumiNova on the hands, hour markers, and diving scale ensures legibility. The all new yellow NATO strap, made from recycled fishing nets, adds an eco friendly twist, with a bioceramic pin buckle and loops completing the look.
The Pacific Ocean Connection
The Pacific Ocean theme runs deep in this design. The vibrant colours and marine illustrations pay homage to the ocean, reflecting both adventure and elegance. Practical features, like the high water resistance and luminescent markers, make it perfect for ocean explorers.
